Water Issues and a Hot September

We have been back in West Linn for nearly a week after a good week at the Oregon Coast.  We had sunshine every day, ate lots of chowder (Mo's is still the best), and enjoyed time with family and new and old friends.  Here is a photo of the group at Waldport.

We got back home to West Linn, to more warm to hot weather.  We have been working on some house projects and the garden shed.  Early in the week, Neil saw some water pooled at the side of the house next to the RV.  Since it hasn't rained in over 45 days, it had to be a water leak and the irrigation system was the culprit.

Neil called Landscape East and West who we hired to check out or irrigation system and they arrived the next day and we had the break in the main irrigation line fixed in an hour.  We had noticed that the water bill was higher than normal the last couple of months.  Neil called and they will be giving us a rebate on those higher months since we got it fixed.

Then just yesterday, Neil noticed that our gas water heater was leaking.  When we bought the house, we got a home warranty from American Home Shield that covered major home appliances.  Thankfully, the water heater is covered, and we are having a new water heater installed next week.  The contractor will be bringing everything up to code (lots of changes in the 23 years since the house was built).  The water heater and furnace are the two major appliances we were concerned about, so it will be great to have one of them replaced with not too much out of pocket expense.

Today, the temperatures got into the nineties, and it was too hot to work outsidee, so we ran some errands in Lake Oswego and then went to Canby to get some plywood for shelves in the garden shed.  Neil plans to put in enough shelves to clear out the garage so we can actually park the VW in the garage--what a concept!  On the way back from Canby, we stopped by a restaurant in downtown Oregon City.  It was one that Pamela had heard about, and we got one of the last tables and had some of the best pizza that we have had in a long time.  They make their crust every day and also have gluten free pizza crust that Pamela tried and said was really good as well.  It is definitely a place that we will go back to, I am sure.

For the next week, we hope to get the garden shed/shop in the dry (just in case there is actually some rain coming in Oregon), and get ready for our trip to Vail, Colorado on September 15th for the US Forest Service Reunion.  Thanks for visiting!
