Happy Valentine's Day 2012

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.  We had a good day that included looking at some more houses, and dinner out at a Macaroni Grill restaurant.  We have had a good week looking at houses in the Oregon City area, but have not found that one, perfect house yet.  We still think that it is out there, but we guess we will have to kiss a lot of frogs before we find our Prince of a House.

We continue to look for a fairly new (1990 or newer), one story ranch style house with large rooms and a modern kitchen, a two car garage, and a place to park a medium sized RV (our next one--not the one we are living in).  We have found all of the perfect parts of a new home--but all in separate houses.

We do have a good realtor that was assigned to us by our insurance company--USAA.  They have a "moving advantage" program that assists their customers (usually active duty and retired military) to relocate and find a house.  They have been very helpful, and there is even some cost savings in the end.

When we were driving around looking at some houses to see if they were worth getting an appointment to get into, we had a harsh reminder that it really is still February.  We got caught in a brief hail and then slush storm that dropped the temperatures into the thirties and caked up the windshield with slush.  It was over pretty quickly, and we had no problems.

This weekend is the Portland Yard, Garden and Patio Show, and we will probably go even though we don't have any of those.  It is not nearly as much fun when you don't have a garden or yard (or patio) to plan around.  Hopefully, we will fix that soon.

There is also another garden show next week and a RV show after that, and ...

We are looking forward to getting to some of these expositions after being in Juneau for so long with so few events.

We also enjoyed our first hot tub this past week with the Finney's here in Molalla.  It was a COLD walk back to the Fiver, however!

We will continue to look at homes this week and assess where we are at the end of that time.  We have even looked at a vacant lot in a new subdivision and could get in at the start of the process, but would have to wait three to four months for it to be built.  Advantages and disadvantages to everything.
