Well, it was a long and very dry run; we have only had 0.25 inches of rain in he last 103 days here in Oregon, and 83 of the last 84 days have been dry. Great weather if you are building a shop building and doing landscaping, as we were. This morning, it all came to an end with pretty good rain most of the day. We might get a bit of a break from the rain on Saturday for the re-opening of the Willamette Arch Bridge this weekend.

This bridge has been around since 1922 and replaced a suspension bridge that was built in 1888. We are looking forward to this bridge re-opening, since it will help with the rush hour traffic at the bottom of the hill below our home in West Linn.

Have you ever heard about how to make God laugh? Just tell Him your plans. Well, we should not have put a list of the house projects we wanted to complete before the rain came on our Google Calendars. We had the last couple of days planned out to door some garden mulching and other garden work, but that all changed when we got a knock on the door and the City of West Linn water utility people told us we had a water leak in the water meter box. Long story short, Neil worked with a contractor to repair the leak on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. A very large Douglas fir root had pushed a fitting apart and caused the leak. In removing the root, we nicked the copper supply line to the house and that had to be repaired as well. As a result of the repair, Neil had them replace the house water pressure regulator.

We have noticed low water pressure since we moved into the house. It is about 46 psi, and Neil likes higher pressure for showers, etc. Since we replaced the pressure regulator, he has adjusted our pressure up to about 60 psi. I guess that every cloud has a silver lining, since the water leak resulted in our getting the water pressure up for the entire house.

This stretch of great weather allowed Neil work with family to finish the shop, get it roofed and painted, and a lot of stuff moved in. One of our goals was to be able to get the VW Passat wagon into the garage before the "rainy season" here in Oregon. Who knew that the dry season was going to last until October 12th?

We also replaced the garage door bottom seal, which was not an easy task. We never were able to get the slide in rubber seal to go into the grooves, so we found another way to do it by putting rubber pipe insulation on the bottom. It seems to work fine, but we shall see how long it lasts.

We still have roses blooming in the garden, but we have turned off the irrigation system for the season, and the heavy rains and winds that we are expecting to get on Monday will probably take the blooms away.
On Tuesday, we are taking the RV down to Grants Pass, Oregon so that Pamela can attend a Creative Memories event for a couple of days, and then on down to Ashland, Oregon to attend some plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Theater. We are looking forward to a few more nights in our RV and to seeing more Oregon events.

We are also blessed this week that Neil's Stepmom, Waneta Hagadorn had successful surgery in Washington State. It was very risky surgery and our prayers are with her and Neil's Dad for a speedy recovery.
